Electrolytes are super trendy right now, but it’s hard to pick the right one!

We’ve tried over 10 different electrolyte brands and we’re sharing our honest thoughts on taste, results and what we like/dislike with each brand below!

You can see all of our favorite electrolytes and shop them on Amazon here.

why we like to drink electrolytes

Electrolytes aren’t just a cool thing to add to your water – they actually have a lot of benefits! Here are the benefits we’ve seen from adding them to our daily routine!

  • Help you stay hydrated– this is probably the most obvious benefit to electrolytes, but they really can be a game changer with hydration!
  • More energy- we both personally feel more awake when we drink our electrolytes first thing in the morning. They’re also great for an afternoon pick me up. (With no caffeine!)
  • Milk supply– as a nursing mom, I do think these have helped me maintain my milk supply.
  • Can help your blood pressure and muscle function

Our favorite electrolytes:

We’ve tried 10 different electrolyte brands at this point and are sharing our honest thoughts below! The brands we tried/will be reviewing are:

  1. Relyte
  2. Ultima
  3. Goodonya
  4. LyteShow
  5. GoHydrate
  6. Natalist
  7. LMNT
  8. Hey Aday
  9. Cure
  10. Liquid IV

We also asked what your favorite electrolytes are and many of you said: Flav City, Nectar, Nuun and Just Ingredients which we haven’t tried, but included some info on below.

Our top 3 picks for electrolytes are:

  1. Relyte (higher sodium, great flavors)
  2. Goodonya (only organic electrolyte, light lemon flavor)
  3. Ultima (slightly sweeter, most affordable)

We alternate with these 3 brands every day! I’m breaking down why we like each brand below.

What electrolyte might be best for you?

  • Higher Sodium: Relyte
  • Lower Sodium: Goodonya and Ultima have some of the lowest Sodium levels
  • High Potassium: Relyte has the highest levels of Potassium of any electrolyte we tried
  • Low Potassium: Goodonya has the lowest levels of Potassium of any electrolyte
  • Organic: Goodonya has all organic ingredients
  • No natural flavors: Goodonya has no natural flavors
  • No stevia/sweetener: LyteShow has no sweeteners
  • Variety of flavors: Ultima has the widest variety of flavors, all of which I’ve found to be really tasty!

Electrolyte Sodium, Potassium & Price Comparison

Below we dive into a full review of each electrolyte powder, I thought this comparison could be helpful. We listed the Sodium, Potassium, and Price of each electrolyte because those were the qualities you were most interested in!

Relyte

Relyte is our most reached for electrolyte powder. We love the taste, and how it makes us feel!

  • Sodium– Each serving has 810mg sodium (sometimes we only do a half scoop) which is great for days when we are really active.
  • Comes in flavored and unflavored– I like the watermelon lime, tyler likes unflavored
  • Taste – All of the flavors are really tasty!
  • Does not mix super well on it’s own – We usually froth it with a frother to mix up any clumps
  • High in potassium- might not be the best option for everyone.
  • Has natural flavors and stevia

Price:

  • Sample Sticks: $11.99/7 sticks = $1.71 per stick (free shipping!)
  • Full Size: $43.99/60 servings = .73 cents/serving (even less with code CLEANEATING!)

Ultima

We really like Ultima’s flavors and how easy they are to mix!

  • SodiumUltima only has 55mg of sodium per serving
  • Taste – They have tons of fun flavors. We like their new mocktail line, but the Grape, Lemonade and Watermelon are also delicious
  • Mixes very easily – You can easily mix this just by stirring your straw in a glass.
  • Sweet– Ultima tastes sweeter to me than other electrolytes. But still absolutely delicious!
  • Has natural flavors and stevia

Goodonya

I love the taste of Goodonya and that it’s organic!

  • Sodium– 25mg per serving
  • Organic– Goodonya is the only organic electrolyte powder that I have found.
  • Tastes like lemonade– This has a very light lemon flavor that is very refrishing
  • Only comes in one flavor
  • No natural flavors
  • Sweetened with Stevia

Price:

Coupon Code: You can use code CLEANEATING10 to save 10% off Goodonya on their website. It’s free shipping over $50, so it might make more sense to buy on Amazon where you can get free shipping with prime.

LyteShow

LyteShow is the first electrolyte I ever tried and used! It does not come in a powdered form, it’s a pre-mixed liquid which makes it different then others

  • Sodium: 126mg
  • No sweetener/sugar– Other electrolytes are typically sweetened with Stevia. Lyteshow does not have any sweetener, flavors, etc. It’s pretty simple when it comes to ingredients!
  • Needs a mixer – You can put this in water, but I think it has a funky taste. I usually add it to a little bit of orange juice.
  • No natural flavors

Price:

GoHydrate

GoHydrate is one of the best tasting electrolytes we tried. It’s not too sweet and it’s not salty.

  • Sodium: 80mg sodium per serving
  • Tastes great– The Strawberry Kiwi might be my favorite flavor of electrolyte ever! It tastes like a CapriSun. Grape and Fruit Punch are also delicious.
  • Mixes really easily in water
  • Only comes in a single serve stick. I wish it came in a tub. I hate the extra waste 🙁
  • More expensive than other electrolytes
  • Has natural flavors and stevia

Price

Natalist

Natalist makes an electrolyte/energy combo stick packet. It has added B12 which can help with energy levels. These are pregnancy safe (Natalist is an amazing women’s health company – highly recommend them!). I used their magnesium powder daily while pregnant.

  • Sodium: 15mg sodium per serving
  • Only comes in a single serve stick/one flavor.
  • Does give you energy– I feel a similar buzz to when I have a cup of coffee, so I tend to stay away from these in the afternoons! But they’re great for a pick me up if you need it!
  • Most expensive brand we tried
  • Has natural flavors and stevia

Price

LMNT

LMNT tastes very salty, and is comparable to Relyte.

  • Sodium: 1000mg sodium per serving (I divided the packets in half and got 2 servings per packet)
  • Doesn’t mix well on it’s own – I need to use a frother to mix it well!
  • Only comes in a single serve stick.
  • Lots of flavors that taste great – I like the Watermelon best.
  • Has natural flavors and stevia

Price

Hey Aday

HeyADay was another brand that we really liked! They’re not super sweet or salty – the perfect balance

  • Sodium: 800mg
  • Tastes Great – I really limed the Lemon Lime and I’m excited to try the Watermelon next
  • Only sold on their website
  • Only comes in single serve sticks
  • Has natural flavors and stevia

Price

Other brands we’ve tried:

  • Cure (not a huge fan of the taste, but like the ingredients!)
  • Liquid IV: This brand has way too much added sugar (11g per stick). We also don’t like the taste and it’s expensive. There are much better options out there! (Sodium:510mg, Price: $24.99/16 = $1.56/serving)

Brands we haven’t tried that you like:

  • FlavCity – this brand has no natural flavors and is made with organic ingredients which I love! (Sodium:85 mg. Price: $44.99/28 = $1.60/stick
  • Nectar – this brand also has no natural flavors and is made with organic ingredients. (Sodium, 100mg $29.90/30 = $0.96/stick)
  • DripDrop – I would not recommend this brand. It has 7g of added sugar per stick, and Sucralose which is an artificial sweetener. There are better options out there. (Sodium: 330mg, Price: $27.99/32 = $0.87/stick)
  • Nuun – Nuun comes in a tablet that dissolves in water so it might be easier to take on the go. (Sodium:300mg, Price: $29.96/40 = $0.75/tablet)
  • Just Ingredients – is made with no natural flavors, and organic ingredients. It’s also very affordable! I want to try this one next! (Sodium:100mg, Price:$24.99/30 = $0.83/serving)

I hope this helped you figure out which electrolyte brand is best for you! Is there a brand of electrolytes you like? Let us know below and maybe we’ll give them a try!
